Lapland Fishing Ltd. was founded in spring 2023. So, the company is rather new, but the founder/owner and employees are certainly not new to this; main guide of the company - Mr Janne Karjalainen - has experienced fishing for over 30 years in various countries, locations and employees of the company have experienced working in branch of tourism. Company holds also academic understanding about tourism.
The company was founded on a realization that in the eyes of the earth, man is not behaving as he should. And the thought continued: this is something that must be changed. And maybe if the man understands the value and uniqueness of his surroundings, he will grow to appreciate those. In this case: more you know, better it is. And Lapland certainly has something to offer... It must be said that founder of the company had some selfish thoughts also... Coming from the world of engineering and project management (mines, energy sector etc.) enjoying nature - and fishing especially - gave portal to search for the inner peace after stressful working habitat. People will find easily that fishing and meditation go hand in hand, are pretty much the same thing. Fishers of course know this already. Also, one major founding reason of the company, was to meet fellow- minded people from all around the world.
Company´s values are towards nature, environment and sustainable actions in operations. Company has been involved with the projects of Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Climate action (SECA) organized by Lapland Polytechnic (Finland), University of Turiva (Latvia) and Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Germany) & Erasmus+ and MUUVI– Corporations ability to change, green transition and digitalisation (translation by site builder) "Yritysten muutoskyvykkyys, vihreä siirtymä ja digitalisaatio -hankkeita (järjestysvastuu Euroopan sosiaalirahasto, ESR)".
Lapland Fishing Ltd follows guidelines of Lapin Kalastusmatkailu ry / Fishing Lapland, Suomen Haukiseura, WWF Suomi, Lohijokitiimi ry and professional fishing guides, Suomen Kalastusopaskilta ry. The company will continue to study and learn sustainable ways to operate.
In April of 2024 the company has started the process to receive the certificate of Sustainable Travel Finland.
